Music and magic fill the air as Eden celebrates the spirit of Christmas
A magnificent 18-piece big band orchestra, beautiful lights and the return of Father Christmas and his elves will fill the Eden Project with festive cheer this December.
Eden’s Christmas experience, taking place on selected dates between Friday December 3 and Thursday December 30, will see the Mediterranean Biome transformed into a winter wonderland with an array of twinkling lights.
A giant mirror ball hanging high above will allow visitors to feel as though they are within a huge snow globe.
At the heart of the Biome, in the Citrus Grove, the big band orchestra will be playing seasonal favourites as well as some original scores. Surrounding the band will be a series of sparkling LED lights.
The majestic Rainforest Biome will also be awash with colourful lighting to create a more reflective experience. The beautifully-lit tropical paradise will feature focused lighting displays around key areas adding to the enchanting atmosphere.
Highlights include haze and spotlights around the Tropical Islands area which will create an impression of a steamy rainforest pool and the iconic waterfall at the peak of the rainforest will be lit to give it an ethereal look.
On selected dates from Friday December 3 and Friday December 24, Father Christmas and his festive elves return to Eden.
During 40-minute sessions, visitors will learn all about special reindeer cubes made from Christmas ingredients and will help Father Christmas and his elves with some magical reindeer landing lights. Each session features a show and time for children to meet the elves and have a special moment with the man himself.
They will also receive a small gift to take away and a letter to open on Christmas Eve. Admission to the Father Christmas experience at Eden must be pre-booked and is priced at £10-£14.
Visitors can add extra sparkle to their Christmas visit by enjoying Eden’s ever-popular ice rink. 40-minute sessions cost £8 per adult and £7 per child. Ice skating sessions from Friday December 3 will be available to book online shortly.
Kate Francis, Producer with Eden Live Productions, said: “We like to think of Eden as Cornwall’s village hall, bringing everyone together to connect with one another and there is no better time for this than at Christmas.
“We hope that visitors will enjoy the positivity of the festive season at Eden this December by creating some special moments with their loved ones and perhaps enjoying a mulled wine and a mince pie too.”
